Harper is a disgrace to Canada

The conservatives like to take the high ground on everything from ethics to protecting Canada.

The Conservatives rhetoric is quite honestly getting quite tiresome. The conservatives are pathetic.

What makes me angry is all those Canadians who voted for them. I love democracy, its the greatest thing out there. but After the Liberals warned, after die hard liberals yelled and screamed that this "polished', "centred" Harper government is the same extreme right wing, hidden agenda party it has a reputation for. After Harper's comments in American newspaper's, after his outspoken MPs (then being fired), he is still voted.

Change was need indeed. that change was delivered when Paul Martin became Prime Minister. I am 19 years old and I have a couple of role models, three of which include Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Jean Chretien, and Paul Martin. All for their respective accomplishments.

I love politics I stayed up all night the day the Liberals won their minority and stayed up all night in my University residence lounge, beating off friends wanting to watch the OC or what not, to watch my politics.

It is sad, pathetic and un-leadership like for the leader, for the Prime Minister of Canada to not attend the largest (ever) gathering of dignitaries, scientists and researches for one of the largest cause in the world; what I'm I talking about? the AIDS conference.

Dear my conservative friends, those who like to defend their leader with such honour and applause. I would sincerely like to know why your leader, my Prime Minister of this country did NOT go to the AIDS conference. What other important function did he have to attend? hmm?

Harper preys on people's emotions. He focuses on the negative, trying to get people angry at the Liberals, so they will vote for him. Instead they vote NDP. Every single move he has made as Prime Minister has been directed towards getting a majority next election, not doing the right thing. He only cares about power.

Chretien did not attend the AIDS conference. Martin did a photo op with Bono and made Aids promises that were not kept.

Canada's Head of State, the Governor General opened the conference. That was the proper protocol. The Minister of Health also attended - again proper protocol since Aids is a health matter.
Your point about our current PM not attending is???? That he did not get a photo op with Clinton like Martin?
What possible difference could this make to anything?

Your own hero Chretien followed the same protocol. If the PM attends one disease conference would all of the others (and there are literally hundreds) feel slighted?

ENOUGH with the Chretien didn't attend line.

HE SHOULD HAVE. It's an embarrasment that he didn't. That doesn't give Harper or his supporters the right to point to his example. If that was the case then Harper will soon be in the middle of an ad scandal and pointing to Chretien saying, like a school kid, "but he did it too!"

A Tory supporter on my blog said that if Harper would have attended it would have been a "security nightmare", another one told me in person that it was a "scheduling conflict" and I heard another one on the radio saying "Why go? AIDS is population control."

Get your story straight.

He isn't the cure to AIDS and people probably still would have booed him if from the get go he would have attended but those people would have looked more idiotic than Harper does for sending his Health Minister out into the pack of wolves.

The few times Tony Clement has spoken public since being elected and he has to do Harper's dirty work.

Decoin said it all.

Sandinista!!!

Fidel, Che, Daniel, Hugo... how come they don't make "statesman" like that in Canada? All we get is Premature Jack Layton, and the Liberal's List. Bob Rae, sadly, the best of a rag tag group. Not even a Stock or Rona in the bunch.

In regards to why PMSH couldn't make it? I think Sunday was bath night.

cheers,

Tomm

So...you like democracy but you get angry at "stupid" Canadians if they dont vote Liberal...there in a nutshell is why you lost the election...arrogance, and, unless you start to understand that Harper plays politics the same way Chretien did, you may have plenty of opportunity to be "angry" at the Canadian voters a few more times.

Okay, Chretien didn't make it. But it is interesting that those who lean the conservative way don't mention that Ronald Reagan didn't attend conferences either. He couldn't even bring himself to say "AIDS" in the early 80's. But the pressure was on and he spoke and yes, said "AIDS" in his last year in 1987. Only under pressure remember.

Besides, Harper's a big boy now and he can go all by himself without using Chretien didn't attend thing.

Decoin, I am sorry but you show your intelligence with your knowledge of history. Firstly, since Confederation I would like to point at JOHN a Mcdonald. the satanic Conservative who BUILT this country. Now is you say that it is traitorous to not vote in a controling, Statist, arrogant, corrupt and tired government displays exactly why the traitors shall continue the revolt againt this "natural governing party"

Also, The Liberals can not say that the reprent "Canadian Values," they lost touch of those years ago.
